HARD BOILED ACCESSORIES
THE WOO, JAZZ & LIONEL RICHIE'S HELLO
Kicking off Lunar New Year with a small accessories capsule that will be launched on the site later today (5 PM PST), but publicly announced tomorrow. Speaking of Lunar New Year, wishing everyone a happy and healthy, prosperous new year. We’ve all learned in the past couple years what means the most to us, and not take the time we have for granted.
On to the accessories capsule: a hat, water bottle and keychain.
John Woo is one of the greatest movie directors, pioneering the ‘heroic bloodshed’ genre of the 80’s-90’s now seen in the amazing John Wick series. Over the top action that Michael Bay continues to get wrong (not a lot of faith in him producing The Raid remake). The John Woo hat is a custom constructed snapback, unstructured crown with a 5 color screen print.
The design of the hat references a vintage Stephen King hat. The update celebrating John Woo as a minority director having left a mark in Hollywood felt very appropriate.
Next is a 32 oz narrow mouth Nalgene bottle centered around the opening scene of Hard Boiled set in a Jazz Club with Inspector Tequila playing the clarinet. Shout out to Kendrick Lo for transcribing the notes of the song (which never made it onto the soundtrack).
Lastly, is the keychain which references two instances in the movie where Teresa Mo has Lionel Richie’s “Hello” transcribed as code and the finale of the movie where she receives Tequila’s flowers during the hospital shootout scene. The keychain is printed on acrylic.
Always appreciate your support. As a bonus unrelated to Hard Boiled, earlier this week THEWWW.XYZ released a Love You shirt just in time for Valentine’s Day, a flip on one of the greatest New York City souvenir tees.
