WOW, first drop using the newsletter. Originally released in 1994, Drunken Master 2’s title was updated as The Legend of Drunken Master for the US release. The film’s action sequences were all mind blowing and perfectly spaced apart. I think of the scenes as poetry in motion hitting all the emotions of comedy, awe, and inspiration all incredibly balanced. To be quite honest, I’m surprised it took me this long to get around to paying homage to this masterpiece. The scan of the DVD and case insert is of my personal copy as I haven’t seen one floating around on the internet.
Finally it’s here! Live now on THEWWW sizes M-XXL. Complete with a heavy puff ink front and back print on 6.1 oz, made in USA Bayside natural color blanks.
Prior to it’s release in 2000 in the US, I heard of the film through the internet. It was an underground cult classic that everyone raved about and I kept pressing my aunt and uncle who were connected in the underground bootleg film circuit at Phuoc Loc Tho. The film remained elusive until 2000 for me. I even had the movie poster collaged for my binder insert in late middle school/early high school days (the last Prelude remains a low key dream car for me).
Aside from the movie, Jackie sings the Wong Fei-hung theme song. Is there anything the man can’t do? Bootlegged the song off Napster for sure along with some remixes.
Fun fact regarding the origins of drunken boxing:
Lastly, here is a photodump of behind the scenes of Drunken Master II all lifted off of HK Movie Tours blog:
RIP Anita Mui
