It’s been a little over a year since the release of the t-shirt ode to a fantastic film and soundtrack. Since then, the mailbox has been hit up multiple times about a restock having only just discovered THEWWW.XYZ recently. Well today is the day, as soon as your retinas are glossing over these words, the go launch button has been smashed and gates are open on Romeo Must Die OST tees. Announcement’s on THEWWW.XYZ ig page will follow 24 hours from now.
A really special shoutout goes to Yang-Yi Goh for highlighting the tee in GQ’s best new items to buy the week of 7-10-20.
A couple things to highlight in the newsletter of this re-launch. As some of you may or may not know the design of this t-shirt was more Indiana Jones archaeological digging than originally expected. All the soundtracks released on cassette tape, CD and vinyl featured a body laying down without a gun whereas the movie posters had them holding a piece. The shirt only utilized the image with a gun because all soundtracks had the image more cropped than the movie posters. On some real nerdy shit, on the back of the CD cover with the track list, the word “featuring” was used in lower case for every single song EXCEPT “Come Back in One Piece” by Aaliyah FEATURING DMX (RIP) where whoever laid out the type probably copied and pasted from another file perhaps for a track single.
Lastly, if you’ve been with THEWWW.XYZ for a while and already own one of these tees, chances are you’ve laundered your tee to discover the print deteriorating faster than expected. This was a happy (for the most part) accident as the local printer used some softer inks and had to flash dry each shirt in sections yielding a quick to vintage appearance for a lot of these tees after wash. What’s really great about this is it is literally impossible for each shirt to look the same especially after washing. HOWEVER…this go around the local printer has dialed up their operation a bit so a quick to vintage look is less likely to happen but great to have a shirt print be more resilient. Again, that first round turned out to be a circumstantial accident and wasn’t intended. More than likely 99% of the prints on the shirts at THEWWW will stand the test of time. If you have one from the first round, have washed it to find it fade and love it, please send in a photo of your tee!
